Circus Arts Workshops


Registrations to workshops during Carnaval Sztukmistrzów 2016 (28-31 July) are open. The workshops will be conducted by the artists of the festival in the mornings and will not interfere with the festival programme. The number of places is limited. Open lecture « Give me five ! » // no registration

Magic and coin manipulation // registration (beginner and intermediate levels)

Gesture and choreographic creation // registration (advanced, all disciplines)

A two-day workshop. We invite those who have mastered some circus or movement skills at intermediate and advanced levels (dancers, acrobats, air acrobats, jugglers, clowns…)

Under the supervision of the choreographer and juggler Emiliano Alessi, the participants will explore body and gesture choreography within the chosen discipline. The workshop aims to present  new tools, useful for all circus artists, practising any techniques and disciplines. We will emphasize individual imagination and focus on producing tools for future work on creations, where the body is used to communicate ideas. Thanks to games, exercises and exchange of experiences , the workshop will offer an opportunity for individual and group experimentation.

Discover the fascinating ideas behind popcorn patterns (like 6c 2-count, 7c 2-count…) with 6 and 7 clubs for 2 jugglers. Bring your clubs!


HandTricks // registration (all levels)

Learn more about small magic with your hands, try some fun finger exercises and tricks with Ey Pacha. Just bring your hands, coins, ropes, gums, small objects… and get ready to play !


Aerial silks // registration (beginners: kids and youngsters)

Time: Saturday and Sunday 30.07 – 31.07 2016 at 11:00 (1,5 hour)

Venue: Dom Żołnierza, street Żwirki i Wigury 6

The instructors will teach the basic moves and tricks on acrobatic silks. The participants will learn basic poses, bonds, transitions and pads on a small height. Participants do not need to have prior experience and are asked to wear long pants or leggings covering the knees and T-shirts covering armpits. The preferred age of participants is 8-14. .


“Ceci n’est pas un urinoir” – workshop and shows // registration (advanced, all disciplines)

Members of the Collective Martine à la Plage invite amateurs and artists of various disciplines of circus and performing arts (jugglers, manipulators, dancers, acrobats …) to participate in the workshop and preparation of shows to be performed in public spaces in Lublin. Johan Swartvagher (juggler, director and founder of FAAAC and co-founder of the Collective Martine à la Plage) will lead a workshop in which the participants will create a living circus museum. The results produced during the workshop will form a part of the show “Ceci n’est pas un urinoir”. Attendees will be invited for “guided walks,” during which they will see the effects of the work done by the participants of the workshop. The theme will be ritual, treated with detachment and humor.

Workshops and preparation for the show will take place on 29 and 30 July ( every morning, 4 hour / day). Workshop participants will  take part in performances on 30 and 31 July in the afternoon.


Hula (Hoop) Jam// no registration

Hula Jam is a workshop for enthusiasts of hula hoop.  You will learn the techniques of hoop twirling, manipulation, throwing and isolation  with the instructor and other participants. The Jam is an open show off”, so come along and show what you’ve got, teach others and learn yourself. Beginners are welcome to join as well.

Diabolo Workshop// registration (beginner, intermediate)

This workshop is a jam” in which we will exchange tricks and combine  them into sequences. Please bring your own diabolo.
